[October 29, 2018]  HARTSBURG - H. Robert “Bob” Ubbenga , 90, passed away at 2:46 p.m. Sunday October 14, 2018 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Service: 10:30 a.m. Friday October 19, 2018 at Faith Assembly of God Church in Lincoln

Obituary

H. Robert “Bob” Ubbenga , 90, passed away at 2:46 p.m. Sunday October 14, 2018 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.

Bob was born on July 27, 1928 in the family home in Hartsburg, where he lived his entire life except for the years he served in the United States Air Force. He was the son of Henry and Rena (Klockenga) Ubbenga. He married Joyce Suey on May 25, 1952 in Springfield. She survives him.

Also surviving Bob are his children: Debra (Eric) Bates of Towanda, Nelson Ubbenga of San Diego, CA and Kevin (Gail) Ubbenga of Hartsburg; three grandchildren: Krista (Brett) Swanson of Oneida, Scott (Sarah) Ubbenga of Normal and Kelsi (Robby) Meeker of Delevan; four great grandchildren: Bianca, Karina, Susana Swanson, and Jackson Ubbenga; one sister: Catherine Apel of Atlanta. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: George and Leo.

Bob proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and was scheduled to go on the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight in 2 weeks.

Bob was a lifelong farmer in the Hartsburg area and owned Ubbenga Trucking for 20 years. He was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church in Lincoln, and Hartsburg American Legion Post#1146.

Services for Bob will be 10:30 a.m. Friday October 19, 2018 at Faith Assembly of God Church in Lincoln, with Rev. Darren Palmer and Thomas Suey officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday October 18, 2018 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln. Burial at Hartsburg Union Cemetery will follow the service where full military rites will be accorded.

Memorials may be made in Bob’s name to Land of Lincoln Honor Flight, Wounded Warrior Project, or Faith Assembly of God Church.
