The Mount Pulaski JV team won in three sets,
23-25, 26-24 and 15-9.
The Mount Pulaski Varsity improved to 3-0 with a win in two
sets, 25-20 and 25-15.
The win was pretty typical for how things have been playing out
for the Lady Toppers this season. Skylar Hayes struck early with
a kill and before long the Lady Toppers had a 6-0 lead. Things
happen along the way and next thing you know the game is tied at
15-15. A couple more Mount Pulaski kills and great defensive
plays and the Lady Toppers are back on top 20-15. Throw down a
kill by Morgan May and the Lady Toppers momentum allows them to
march to a 25-20 win in set one.
Set two was a lot smoother for the Lady Toppers. Abigail
Fitzpatrick's kill had Mount Pulaski leading 7-1 quickly. The
score was 10-3 after another kill by May. Hayes made the score
13-8 with her annihilation of the ball. Fitzpatrick, who was
pretty busy digging the ball all night long, managed to have
time for another kill to keep the lead in tact, 19-13 the score.
And finally May said,"Let's get this over with." Her kill drew
the loudest applause because with that one powerful swing it was
game over and Mount Pulaski won 25-15.
Mount Pulaski will travel to Greenview Thursday night for a 6
p.m. JV match. Varsity will follow.
