Obituary
Shirley Mae Lohrenz, 93, of Mason
City passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at
2:15 p.m. at Mason City Area Nursing Home. Shirley
was born July 29, 1925 in rural Mason City, the
daughter of Frederick and Emma (Berns) Blaum . She
married Louis Lohrenz on November 2, 1947 in Easton.
He preceded her in death on January 26, 1982.
Shirley is survived by two brothers, Raymond “Jack”
Blaum of Bettendorf, IA, Robert (Mae) Blaum of
Divernon, one sister, Rita Cole of Mason City, and
twelve nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death
by her parents and two brothers, Donald and F. Dale
Blaum.
Shirley enjoyed landscaping her lawn and tending to
her flower garden. Shirley also enjoyed sewing and
helping others. She especially enjoyed helping with
children and loved being involved in the lives of
her nieces and nephews as well as their children and
grandchildren.
Funeral services for Shirley will be held on
Thursday, September 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the New
Holland United Methodist Church in New Holland.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 5,
2018 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in
Mason City. Burial will follow the funeral service
at Richmond Grove Cemetery near New Holland.
