The LCHS girls tennis team closed their third week of play with a
6-3 loss at Mt. Zion, and two rain-outs. At Mt. Zion, Madi Koehler
earned points in both singles and doubles. Re-scheduling matches
with Springfield High and Pontiac High is underway.
The team had a strong start this season against Jacksonville, with
the Railers winning 8-1 over the Crimsons. Their next match against
Bloomington Central Catholic saw an 8-1 loss, and in week two,
Lincoln had a 9-0 loss against Sacred Heart Griffin of Springfield.
Players performed well in the 14-team Central Illinois Invite, held
at sites in Chatham, Rochester, and Springfield. Maddie Tanner,
Brooke Montcalm, and Bailee Pineda all contributed to Lincoln’s
point total, with the team tying for 10th, an improvement over last
year.

“We have seen all levels of competition already this season”, said
Coach Jan Dickerson. “At the Invite, we had some wins, some losses;
and Bailee won the Consolation draw in #3 Singles. I have seen
improvement in each player since practice started in August. Of
course, we have much to work on.”
Next up on the schedule are Southeast and Pekin.
