 Lincoln Center’s first Phlebotomy Technician class
has posted a 100 percent pass rate.
Eleven students completed the 90 hour course at the end of August.
With the successful completion of the course, students gained
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) credentials through the
National Healthcareer Association.
The program prepares students for employment throughout the health
care system. Phlebotomists draw blood from patients for testing
purposes and are employed at doctor’s offices, hospitals,
neighborhood health care centers, HMOs, insurance carriers and other
health care settings.
This year Heartland committed to invest in Lincoln
and Logan County by moving to a larger facility at 2201 Woodlawn
Road. The Phlebotomy Technician program was one of the first courses
offered at the new facility.

“This is the first work ready program we have offered at Lincoln
Center,” said Kristi Powell, Associate Director of Heartland Lincoln Center.
“Development of new programs like the Phlebotomy Technician course will provide
opportunities for students who are looking to move into a career path in a
relatively short period of time.”
Health care support occupations are one of the fastest growing job markets in
the U.S., and the field of phlebotomy is no exception. The Bureau of Labor
Statistics has projected a growth rate of 16 percent from 2014 to 2024 in the
employment of phlebotomy technicians.
