The Lincoln College Men’s and Women’s Cross Country teams competed
at the nine-team Bradley University Intercollegiate Invite over the
weekend. The women’s team finished 5th in the college division and
the men’s team was 9th.
The women’s team was led by sophomore April Goetz (Auburn). Goetz
placed 24th in the college division with a time of 21:21. Other top
finishers for the Lady Lynx included freshman Cauriana Johnson
(29th), senior Deanna Anglin (33rd), freshman Shania Goble (37th)
and sophomore Payton Marr (43rd).
The men’s team was paced by Ed Lopez. The junior from Rantoul,
Illinois placed 41st in the college division with a time of 31:37.
Sophomore Blake Quandt from Salem, Illinois finished 42nd, junior
Christian Raymond came in 47th, freshman Zach Akers was 49th and
junior Kendall Williams was 54th.
Lincoln Cross Country Coach Brian Herron said, “I thought our team
did a solid job tonight of going out there on an unseasonably hot
night and competing very hard. We knew coming into the season that
we were a young team on the men’s side (one returner from last
year’s top five) as far as competing in cross country.

"They are continuing to progress and keep getting better at the
longer distances and I really love their heart. On the women’s side
we knew we had a team that can definitely be in the mix. We have a
solid lead runner and a solid group that run pretty close together.
They have been working hard at practice and it is starting to show.
I am really looking forward to our season and seeing how they all
continue to develop.”
The Lynx will be in action again this Friday at Augustana College.
Their first race will start at 3:00 PM at the Lundeen-Saukie Golf
Course.
