Obituary
Doyle Lynn Winchell ,80, passed away
at 2:50 p.m. on Tuesday September 11, 2018 at St.
John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Doyle was born on January 1, 1938 in Danville, AR;
son of Eloy and Macie (Bowers) Winchell. He married
Elsie Stephens on February 6, 1960 in Atlanta. She
survives him.
Also surviving Doyle are his daughters: Mary Blain
and Tammy (Tom) Haferkamp both of Bloomington, IL;
his siblings: Geraldine Funkhouser, Joan (Wayman)
Sides, and Dorothy (Herbert) Horn; five
grandchildren: Jeremiah Todd Koester, Benjamin Owen
Koester, Jordan Mark Blain, Macie Noel Blain, and
Moriah Lynn Blain; two great grandchildren: Judah
Nathaniel Koester and Raiden Nathaniel Koester. He
was preceded in death by his parents, one brother:
James Lloyd Winchell, one infant son: Todd Emmanuel
Winchell, and one grandson: Nathaniel James Koester. |
Doyle was a member of Park Meadows
Baptist Church in Lincoln. He retired from GTE
(General Telephone) after 35 years of service.
Services for Doyle will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday
September 15, 2018 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Rev. Clinton Coffman
officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to
service (10:00-11:00 a.m.) also at funeral home.
Burial at Zion Cemetery will follow the service.
Memorials may be made in Doyle’s name
to The American Cancer Society.
