A junior varsity match by Miranda Nelson also
resulted in a victory. “Most of their players were newer and
less experienced than ours,” commented Coach Jan Dickerson.
On Thursday, Lincoln hosted conference opponent Mahomet-Seymour.
A very closely-contested match, M-S ended with five singles and
one doubles wins, and Lincoln had one singles tie-break win by
Kendall Heft, and two doubles wins. Maggie Hanger and Brooke
Montcalm won at #2D, and Heft and Bailee Pineda won at #3D. “On
another very hot day, we competed well, but lost a couple
matches just by two or three games. They are good opposition for
us, well-matched to us,” said Dickerson.
Shelbyville High’s team came to Lincoln on Friday, with the
Railers earning a 6-3 team win over a new opponent. Maggie
Hanger, Bailee Pineda, Madi Koehler, and Brooke Montcalm all won
at singles, and the teams of Hanger/Montcalm and Pineda/Kendall
Heft won at doubles. In JV action, Miranda Nelson won two
singles pro-set matches.
Saturday’s re-scheduled meet with Springfield High saw another
6-3 team win for Lincoln. “This was an excellent win for
Lincoln’s girls, with four singles and two doubles wins,
especially since this was their fourth meet of the week,” said
Coach. “I am proud of the tenacity, collectively and
individually, and the team determination I saw.”
