LINCOLN
As of October 1st, the city of Lincoln will no longer be billing
trash services provided by Area Disposal. The trash company will be
taking back the billing duties as part of a revised solid waste
contract with the city. In October, Area will be sending each
household in Lincoln a quarterly invoice for service. The city
understands that the back and forth change of the billing process
may cause confusion, and apologizes for any inconvenience it has
caused in the household routines of its residents.
Residents can expect to see an invoice from Area in early October
for trash and recycling services for the months of October,
November, and December. If anyone has paid the city in advance for
trash services, all over-payments will be forwarded to Area and
accounts will be credited accordingly.
For those who would prefer monthly billing, Area does offer a 'fixed
income' plan. Contact the Lincoln Area Disposal office at
217-735-5881 to discuss this option.

For residents with an automated payment system set up through their bank, please
make necessary adjustments to that withdrawal amount. Area Disposal also accepts
automated bank payments, so residents may still take advantage of that
convenience.
City Clerk Peggy Bateman noted that those who have past due bills for trash from
the city MUST pay that past due amount to the city.
Also, if customers had credit balances with Area that were not used prior to the
first switch or refunded from Area while the city was doing the billing, then be
sure to check those first bills from Area to assure that the credit has not been
misplaced.
Finally, please note, this does not change the trash service mandate implemented
by the city of Lincoln. All residents of Lincoln are expected to have trash
service, and to have Area Disposal as that service provider.
