[April 02, 2019]
The Logan County Department of Public Health (LCDPH) would like to
recognize April 1-7 as National Public Health Week. Currently in
Illinois, there are 97 health departments serving 100 of the 102
counties which benefits 99.5% of the state’s population. For nearly
50 years, LCDPH has proudly served the Logan County community to
prevent disease and promote positive living to protect its citizens.
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), some of the top
achievements in public health include immunizations, control of
infectious diseases, reduced mortality due to heart disease and
stroke, safer and healthier foods, healthier mothers and babies and
the recognition of tobacco as a public health hazard.
LCDPH plays a key role in supporting all of these achievements
through programs such as their immunization clinic, disease and
outbreak surveillance, health education, food, water and other
environmental inspections, and the Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
nutrition program.

With summer months approaching, LCDPH will provide seasonal programs such as
mosquito surveillance to track West Nile Virus activity in addition to the back
to school immunization clinic to ensure your children receive all the required
vaccines necessary to begin the school year. As always, there are no
appointments needed, little waiting and all insurance is accepted and directly
billed for your convenience.
LCDPH would like you to join them in appreciation of National Public Health
Week. As always, your local health department will work hard to protect the
public health of your community. For more information regarding LCDPH services,
you can visit their website at WWW.LCDPH.ORG or call them at 217-735-2317.
