The Lincoln College Softball team lost twice to
the visiting team from William Woods University on Monday. WWU
won the first game 4-2 and took the second 12-1 in five innings.
The Lady Lynx struck first in game one by putting up two runs in
the bottom of the second. Wood answered with a run in the top of
the third then added on two in the fourth and an insurance run
in the top of the seventh. Freshman Olivia Sanders (Clinton)
pitched all seven innings and look the loss. Five Lincoln
hitters recorded hits in the game with Ali Nowicki (Petersburg)
and Seleste Smith (Warrensburg) each picking up RBI’s.
Game two saw William Woods score early and often and hold a 7-1
advantage after the first three innings. A five-run top of the
fourth for WWU would put the game out of reach and force the end
of the game after five innings of play.
The losses drop LC’s season record to 3-19. The Lady Lynx will
try to get back on track with another set of home games on
Thursday against Eureka College. Game one is set to start at
2:00 PM.
