LINCOLN

The Public Safety Sales Tax referendum failed to receive enough support to pass.

We’d like to thank all those who took the time to vote on this important issue. While we are disappointed in the outcome, the problems facing our community in regards to the Logan County Safety Complex are not going away.

The proposed sales tax would have been, in our opinion, the fairest way to raise the funds necessary for the crucial upgrades necessary at the Logan County Jail.

By implementing a sales tax, the burden of the cost associated with those improvements would have been shared with non-residents who shop and visit Logan County.

The Logan County Board now faces a crossroads. We're forced to revisit alternative solutions to find the funds needed in order to comply with the law and address the multitude of security and safety issues.
