St. John United Church of Christ recently presented Certificates of Appreciation to individuals who have supported the Outreach and Mission Ministries of the church.

On Sunday, March 17th, following a presentation and informal conversations about the Lincoln Police Departments Safe Passage Initiative by Officer Christy Fruge, President Warren Goetsch and Tonita Reifsteck, coordinator of the Safe Passages program support at the church presented Officer Fruge the certificate of appreciation for her support and continued updates of information regarding the program.

That evening at a fundraiser for the Safe Passage Program at Culver’s 10 percent of the gross receipts earned brought the total donations to date to Safe Passages to just over $1000.00.

The church began fundraising efforts for narcan kits for the Lincoln Police Department a few years ago. When the city of Lincoln added narcan into its annual budget, the church switched to offering financial support for Safe Passages.

Before switching the fundraising efforts the church raised $3208.39 for narcan.

On Sunday, March 24th a Certification of Appreciation was presented to Elaine Aue of Culver’s in Lincoln for her support of the many Outreach and Mission Ministries of St. John UCC. Programs listed on the certificate were: Missions, Toys For Tots, Veterans Celebration, Narcan and Safe Passage Initiative, Missions of Community Action and other needs in the world.

On Thursday, March 28 - Jack Leich and Tonita Reifsteck presented Erin Varner and the LCHS Honor Society a certificate for all their support in the fundraisers at Culver’s throughout the past two years.
