Lincoln wins 9-3 over Champaign Central

Lincoln defeated Champaign Central 9-3 last Thursday in Champaign.

The Railsplitters pounded out eleven hits and took a 6-0 lead early in the game. Lincoln scored a run in the first inning after Sydney Worth drew a walk, stole two bases and scored on a groundout by Emily Paulus.

In the fourth inning the Railsplitters broke the game open with five runs scored on six hits. The Railsplitters were playing small ball with Worth, Paulus, Jacey Cooper, Abbie Glenn, Mya Kate Kirgan and Bayleigh Gillum all slugging singles in the inning.

Champaign Central did score three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning but Lincoln got those runs back in the top of the seventh inning.

Cooper's two-run triple in the seventh inning did the most damage and Lincoln trotted home with the 9-3 win behind outstanding pitching from Abbie Glenn. Glenn earned the win by allowing just three runs on nine hits over seven innings. She struck out five batters and did not issue a single walk.

At the plate, Glenn was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
