[April 12, 2019]    Mount Pulaski traveled to Manito Thursday afternoon to take on Midwest Central ahead of the rain and it was the Hilltoppers overcoming a 3-0 deficit and coming home with a big Tomahawk conference win.

Ben Fricke broke a 3-3 tie in the top of the seventh inning with a double to left field that scored Logan DeRight with the go-ahead run. DeRight had walked to reach base.

Midwest Central scored three runs in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead over the Hilltoppers, but Mount Pulaski came back with two runs in the top of the fourth inning.

In that fourth inning Tanner Farris had an RBI double to account for the first run and then he came around to score later on a passed ball. With the Hilltoppers down 3-2 heading into the top of the seventh inning, it was Todd Kelly scoring the tying run on a passed ball.

Kelly started the seventh inning offense with a single. He advanced to second base on a groundout by Drew Martin. Kelly then stole third base and came flying home on a passed ball. DeRight then walked and this set the stage for Fricke's play of the day. Fricke's line drive double to left field on an 0-1 count scored DeRight and the Hilltoppers were on top 4-3. In the bottom of the seventh inning Martin came on in relief and he sat 'em down in a hurry. Three up, three down, as Martin worked quickly. He struck out the side - swinging, looking, swinging - as he picked up the save.

Logan DeRight was the starting pitcher for Mount Pulaski. DeRight threw six innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. DeRight struck out eight batters and issued just one walk.

Fricke and DeRight each had two hits to lead the Hilltoppers.

Mount Pulaski improves to 8-2 on the season with the 4-3 win over Midwest Central.
