The Lincoln College Softball team took both
ends of a home doubleheader against Principia College on
Thursday. Lincoln won the first game 5-1 and took game two 10-2.
LC’s Olivia Sanders (Clinton) went the distance in the first
game to pick up the win. The freshman right hander allowed just
four hits and struck out four batters in seven innings of work.
Lincoln native Kerstin Osborne was the winning pitcher in game
two. Osborne allowed two-earned runs over six innings pitched
and collected four strikeouts.
Shortstop Melissa Benson (Clinton) totaled four hits on the day.
Benson went 1-for-3 in the first game and 3-for-4 in the second.
Freshman Brooke Friesner (Moweaqua) collected two RBI’s in each
game, and catcher Ali Nowicki (Petersburg) went 3-for-3 in game
two win an RBI.
The wins improve LC’s record to 5-19 on the season. Lincoln will
travel to Mt. Pleasant, Iowa on Friday for two games against
Iowa Wesleyan University.
