County Highway 25 between Atlanta and US 136 to close Monday, April 15th
Road construction expected to last approximately one week

The Logan County Highway Department will be making improvements to County Highway 25 between Atlanta and US Highway 136. Culvert work is expected to begin Monday, April 15, which will require the roadway to be closed for about one week. The remainder of the project should be completed with one lane open to traffic.

The roadway was last resurfaced in 1974 and is in poor condition. Various repairs have been made to the road surface in order to extend the pavement life as long as possible. This project will involve 4.2 miles of full-depth reclamation. The existing roadway will be pulverized and graded. A combination of asphalt and cement will be incorporated into the roadway. The new material will be re-graded and compacted for the new road surface.

This roadway is at the end of its life cycle and can no longer be resurfaced. The option of full-depth reclamation allows us to keep the roadway material in place. Essentially, the existing rock will be recycled into a new roadway.

The project was awarded to Dunn Company of Decatur, Illinois. The low bid on the project was $1,497,997. Logan County will use federal funds for 80% of the total cost. Property tax funds will be used for the local share of the project.
