The
Lincoln boys traveled to Springfield Friday to play the
Southeast Spartans on the diamond and thanks to an early
offensive explosion by the team and a stellar pitching
performance from Colton Holliday, the Railsplitters won 7-3.
Lead-off hitter Noah Funk wasted no time igniting the
Railsplitters offense. Funk started the game with a double to
left field. With one out, Funk came around to score on an RBI
single by Nate Arnold. With two outs, Brenden Eigenbrod doubled
home Arnold. Alex Bogdanic followed that up with an RBI single
to score courtesy runner Jayden Pollice. Lincoln jumped
out to a 3-0 lead before Colton Holliday even took the mound.
In
the bottom of the first inning, Holliday struck out three
batters and issued one walk, a good start for the senior.
Lincoln put up three more runs in the top of the second inning
in support of Holliday.
Dreyden Pozsgai singled to get things started in the second
inning. Will Ewald laid down a sacrifice bunt and reached on an
error by the third baseman. Pozsgai came around to score on the
play. Funk came up to bat and this time he crushed a double to
right field to score Ewald. With the bases loaded later in the
inning, Eigenbrod drew a walk to score another Lincoln run.
