Railsplitters drop doubleheader to Mattoon

The Railsplitters hosted Mattoon on Saturday at Mike Curry Field and the Green Wave swept Lincoln in a doubleheader. Mattoon won the first game 9-2 and the second game 12-1.

In game one Alex Bogdanic suffered the loss for Lincoln. He tossed three and two-thirds innings, giving up five runs on ten hits. He struck out three batters. 

Mattoon had a 6-0 lead going into the bottom of the fifth inning. Lincoln scored two runs in their half of the fifth on a sacrifice by Will Ewald and an RBI single by Nate Arnold.

Mattoon added three more runs in the top of the sixth inning and took a 9-2 lead. The Green Wave pounded out 17 hits against Lincoln pitching in the 9-2 game.

Dylan Singleton was 2-for-3 for Lincoln with a run scored. Colton Holliday was also 2-for-3 for the Railsplitters.

In game two Nate Arnold got the loss. Arnold pitched one inning, giving up one run on three hits. He struck out one batter.

Lincoln only managed to get one run across the plate. A run scored in the third inning when Colton Holliday's RBI single scored Noah Funk. 

Mattoon slugged 17 hits and ran away with the 12-1 win. 

Noah Funk was 2-for-3 for Lincoln with a run scored. Colton Holliday was 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI.

Lincoln evened their record at 7-7 on the season.
