Ameren Illinois employees and local volunteers will replace existing porch
lights with energy efficient LED lights. LEDs use up to 80 percent less energy
and last three-to-four years longer than older lighting alternatives. They also
emit more light per watt and improve nighttime visibility.
This is the fourth year of the Brighten the Block initiative. Other 2019
locations, include: Jerseyville, Washington, Mattoon, East St. Louis,
Collinsville and Carterville.
