Hilltoppers sweep Lanphier in Saturday doubleheader at Veteran's Park
Game one - DeRight pitches complete game gem as Hilltoppers win 2-1 over Lanphier
Game two - Martin dominates complete game as Hilltoppers defeat Lanphier 3-2
 

[April 23, 2019] 

Logan DeRight tossed a complete game on Saturday in game one of a doubleheader with Springfield Lanphier. The Hilltoppers won 2-1.

DeRight allowed one run on four hits and struck out five batters.

Mount Pulaski scored a run in the first inning on an RBI double by Ben Fricke.

Garrett Fitzpatrick scored the go-ahead run in the second inning on a wild pitch.

DeRight held onto the 2-1 lead and Mount Pulaski picked up a win in game one. 

Ben Fricke and Austin Killion were both 2-for-3 at the plate for Mount Pulaski. 

MP vs Lanphier

Sophomore Drew Martin dominated game two as the Hilltoppers defeated Lanphier by a final score of 3-2 in the Saturday afternoon contest. 

Mount Pulaski scored a run in the second inning on an error by the Lions.

Lanphier tied the game 1-1 in the top of the third inning, but Mount Pulaski was able to take the lead in the bottom of the inning.

Ben Fricke's RBI double scored Martin with the go-ahead run and Tanner Farris added an RBI single to extend the lead to 3-1 over the Lions.

Lanphier scored a run in the top of the seventh inning on a fielder's choice, but Martin was able to strike out the final batter of the game before any more damage was done. 

Martin allowed two runs on three hits and struck out nine batters. He did not issue a single walk on the day.

Ben Fricke was 2-for-3 for Mount Pulaski.
