Railsplitters win 8-5 over Champaign Centennial
Funk goes 4-for-4 to lead Lincoln in the
win

The Railsplitters offense
pounded out 12 hits on Monday night versus Champaign Centennial
at Mike Curry Field. Nobody's bat was hotter than shortstop Noah
Funk's in the 8-5 win. Funk hit a double, triple and two singles
while driving in two runs for Lincoln.
Alex Bogdanic was on fire at the
plate, too, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored.
Dylan Singleton stayed sizzlin'
in the batter's box with a solid 2-for-3 performance and
scoring two runs while driving in another.
Lincoln took a 2-1 lead in the
bottom of the second inning thanks to a two-out double by Funk
that scored two runs.
An RBI single by Will Ewald
added another run for Lincoln in the bottom of the third inning.
Lincoln's lone run in the fourth
inning came after Funk tripled to center and scored on
the sacrifice fly by Nate Arnold.

Lincoln put up three insurance
runs in the fifth inning. Bogdanic doubled and he came home to
score on a double by Dylan Singleton. Drew Singleton's triple
then scored Dylan Singleton with a run. Finally, Drew Singleton
came speeding home on a wild pitch. Lincoln's lead had grown to
7-2 at the end of the fifth inning.
Lincoln would plate one more
run, this time in the bottom of the sixth inning on a groundout
by Justin Long. The Railsplitters carried an 8-2 lead into the
top of the seventh inning and held on to win, despite three runs
late by the Chargers.
Cameron Glick earned the win for
Lincoln. Glick threw six innings, allowing five runs on six
hits. He struck out seven batters. Justin Long pitched an inning
in relief and allowed one hit.
Lincoln improves to 10-8 on the
season.
