Georgia Democrat Abrams decides against U.S. Senate run: report

[April 30, 2019]  WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams will not run for the U.S. Senate in the 2020 election, she told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution in an interview on Tuesday.

Abrams said she was "deeply honored" by residents of the southern U.S. state who have asked her to seek the seat following her narrow loss in the 2018 bid for governor, but said: "my responsibility is not simply to run because the job is available. I need to run because I want to do the job."
