Obituary
Jamie Lyn (Kaiser) Knowlton, 42, of
Normal, IL, went home to be with the Lord and Savior
on August 10, 2019 at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice
Home in Peoria, IL.
Born March 1, 1977 at Memorial Medical Center in
Springfield, Illinois, to Doug Kaiser, and Lee
(Drake) Kaiser-Schall, Jamie graduated from Mt.
Pulaski High School. She later moved to Connecticut
and received her Early Childhood Educator
Certificate from Norwalk Community College in
Norwalk, CT. Jamie was gifted with children and
worked various occupations caring for them,
including being a beloved nanny, babysitter,
preschool teacher, and at the library in Lincoln,
Illinois. Jamie was a skilled administrator and
incredible organizer, and additionally held jobs in
the offices of her churches in Connecticut. Always a
servant, Jamie also gave countless hours to teaching
Sunday School, leading worship, leading a small
group for junior high girls, mentoring the younger
generation, snuggling babies at church, and giving a
hand wherever it was needed.
Jamie's heart was to be a woman of God, wife, and
then a mother; in that order. Jamie was thrilled to
marry Joel Knowlton at Eastview Christian Church on
May 3, 2014 and give birth to Liliana in 2015 and
Gideon in 2017. Despite years of illness, Jamie was
a devoted, selfless, and loving wife and mother to
her whole family, including her stepchildren,
Alexander, Clare, Chloë, Braden, and Andersen.
Jamie’s faith and joyful spirit were the foundation
of her home.
Without question, Jamie was the brightest light in
any room. No one who has known Jamie can ever forget
her. She was so generous with her smile and her
laughter, and she engaged in enough fun and
silliness to cheer a downcast friend, please a gang
of relatives, or entertain a congregation of
worshipers. Jamie loved games of all kinds, singing
(especially with her large family), impromptu skits,
all things Disney, cruises and travel, planning
amazing parties and events, fireworks, date nights
laughing with Joel, spending time at her mom’s lake
house, her annual Drake Family Christmas reunions,
and going to the state fair. She was also an avid
reader, crafter, and a skilled hair style creator.
She loved the Lord and serving Him and was greatly
looking forward to worshiping Him in heaven one day!
In addition to her husband, children, and parents,
Jamie is survived by her stepfather, Robert Schall
of Middletown, IL; sisters Debra Kaiser of San
Mateo, CA, and Kimberly Robbins of Cameron, WI;
uncles William T. (Sherrie) Drake of Blufton, IN,
Michael (Ruth Ann) Drake of Atwood, IL, Larry
(Patti) Drake of Elkhart, IL, Kerry (Melanie) Drake
of DeMotte, IN, David Kaiser of Royal Oak, MI, and
aunt Robin (Mark Bibler) Drake of Zionsville, IN;
dozens of cousins, and uncountable friends,
including precious lifelong friends, Nancy Gooding,
Dale Seggelke, Trent (Alysha) Seggelke, Ryan
(Carrie) Seggelke, and many others that became
family to her. Also surviving are her mother-in-law,
Mary (David Phelps) Knowlton; and two
brothers-in-law, Richard Knowlton and Timmy
Knowlton. |
She was preceded in death by grandparents
Leslie and Lillian Drake of Crown Point, IN, and Mort and
Edith Kaiser of Lakeland, MI; uncle Daniel Drake of Crown
Point, IN, and Aunt Carol (Drake) Miles of Hammond, IN.
The visitation will take place on Friday, August 16, from
4:00- 7:00 p.m. at the Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, 1800
Eastland Drive in Bloomington, IL.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 17, at
10:00 a.m. at Eastview Christian Church, 1500 Airport Road
in Normal, IL.
Jamie’s desire was for floral remembrances to be excluded.
Instead, a fund to supplement the cost of one of Jamie’s
last wishes, to have in home consistent childcare following
this difficult loss, has been established. In memoriam,
please consider donating to
www.GoFund Me.com.
In the Search bar, please type “Love for Jamie’s Children”,
which will bring up the fundraising campaign. Those wishing
to honor Jamie’s life in additional ways may also choose to
contribute to another of her favorite causes: Music
Connections Foundation (to support Kindermusik), the
Eastview Dollar Offering or the Eastview Junior High
Ministries.
