On Friday morning Eaton Management and staff honored one of their own as she prepares for retirement. After 50 years with the company, Marsha O’Donoghue is saying good-bye to the workforce and looking forward to retirement.

What is O’Donoghue going to do with her time now? She plans to take it easy “just messing around the house.” She is also looking forward to spending time with her quilting and sewing projects and has thoughts of travel in her future.

The Friday morning celebration was the first of three to be held in O’Donoghue’s honor. At the Eaton plant in the morning, employees enjoyed an ice cream sundae bar while visiting with O’Donohue and delivering best wishes for her future.

Later in the afternoon, Eaton planned a larger event at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Lincoln, and after that, a more intimate party was planned with family members and close friends.

Friday morning there was a large turnout of not only staff, but friends and family. Helping O’Donohue celebrate was her husband Denny, Daughter Tricia Venninger and grandchildren Jake and Allena Venninger.

O’Donohue is one of three employees at Eaton who have been with the company 50 years or more. The other two joined in the celebration and it was noted that they have been with the company 51 and 53 years.

Of course, O’Donohue received a few farewell mementos from staff and management, and a lot of hugs from co-workers.

Asked how that one maintains a single job for 50 years and more, the three ladies who own that designation laughed and said, “We are all family!”

Congratulations to Marsha and best wishes for the future.
