[August 26, 2019]    The Lincoln College Women’s Volleyball team had a very uneven day at the Roosevelt University Triangular on Saturday. The Lady Lynx looked great in the first set of both matches played, but unraveled later in each match, suffering losses to Waldorf University in five sets (15-25, 26-28, 25-20, 25-11, 15-6) and Roosevelt in four (15-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-19).

Lincoln Coach Mark Tippett was perplexed by his team’s inconsistent performance. “When you go out and beat a team by ten points in the opening set, it usually means you are capable of winning the match and probably should,” said Tippett. “But at this level, teams can turn it around on you and today we had that happen to us twice, which was not fun and not something that a team with our experience level should let happen,” he added.

Lincoln senior right side hitter Mikayla Seibert (Mackinaw) led the team with 18 total kills on the day. Sophomore middle hitter Amazing Ashby (Aurora, CO) was next with 15 and fellow middle hitter Elysa Smith recorded 12 kills between the two matches. Lincoln native Morgan Lolling led in total set assists with 37 and Emma Derry (Augusta) was next with 21. Derry also collected 26 digs which was second only to libero Megan Gilliam (Waterloo) who led the defensive effort with 32 digs on the day.

LC will try to rebound on Tuesday evening with a 6:30 home match against the St. Louis College of Pharmacy. The match will be a benefit game for the Humane Society of Logan County. For more information on how to participate, please visit www.lincolnlynxsports. com.
