Members of 2019 Lincoln College Women’s
Volleyball team have recently begun doing volunteer work for the
HSLC, and the team will look to use the match as a way to
promote the mission of the Humane Society and to collect needed
items.
HSLC co-managers Mary Dowdel and Wanda Stevens are excited about
the partnership that has developed between their organization
and the LC players. “We are certainly grateful that the girls
are interested in volunteering their time,” said Dowdel. “They
have been doing a good job here at the shelter and it’s nice to
have young, energetic people around to help with the daily
tasks.”
Lincoln College Head Coach Mark Tippett is pleased with the way
his players have taken to the opportunity. “We have a lot of
animal lovers on our team, and the HSLC facility is so close to
campus that starting a relationship with their organization was
a natural fit,” said Coach Tippett. “So far, the players have
enjoyed the experience and we look forward to helping out when
needed all year long.”
Prior to the start of the match on Tuesday, Coach Tippett will
be announcing ways the public and LC Volleyball fans can help
support their cause.
“We will be accepting monetary donations at the gate for this
match and we will have a bin set up where attendees can leave
donation items which will be passed on to the HSLC,” said
Tippett. “We will have the bin set up in the gym lobby
throughout the season, so members of the public can drop off
donations there any time.”
According to Dowdel and Stevens, items which the HSLC is most in
need of at this time include Purina Cat Chow (blue bag), Purina
Kitten chow (yellow bag), Purina Puppy chow, bottled water for
volunteers, Clorox bleach, detergent, paper towels and 6lb or
14lb bags of dog food (any brand).
Game time on the 27th is set for 6:30 PM. For more information
