[August 26, 2019]    The Lincoln College Men’s Soccer team opened up their 2019 season with a 1-1 tie at against the University of St. Francis (IL) on Saturday.

The Lynx were able to strike first when junior Abdoulaye Sylla (Moline) found the back of the net just fifteen minutes into the first half. Lincoln was able to protect that lead all the way up to the 85th minute of play, but gave up a counter attack goal which tied the score. Regulation time ended with no further scoring then two overtime periods were played with neither team being able to manage a goal.

LC Head Coach Ben Massena was happy with his team’s overall performance against a quality opponent. “St. Francis was in the top four of their conference last year,” noted Massena. “We hung right with them and had our chances to win, which is a sign that we are definitely ready to compete at this level.”

Lincoln (0-0-1) will host their first home match of the season on Tuesday, August 27th against Greenville University. Match time is set for 4:00 PM.
