[August 29, 2019]    The Lincoln College Men’s Soccer team picked up a 3-1 win over the visiting Greenville University Panthers (NCAA) in their first home match of the season on Tuesday.

GU struck first with a goal just over five minutes into the contest, however, Lincoln’s Adrian Roman (Waukegan) was able to even the score with an unassisted goal just before the first half ended.

The Lynx did not wait long after the start of the second half to grab the lead on a goal by junior Ignacio Ximenez (Gwinnett, GA) at the 47:00 minute mark. Adrian Roman was credited with the assist. Lincoln was able to add on a third goal in the 80th minute when junior Abdoulaye Sylla (Moline) scored off an assist from fellow junior Tajay Small (Kingston, Jamacia).

LC Coach Ben Massena took a lot of positives away from the win. “It’s always fun to start off your home season with a win,” said Massena. “We had a lot of good looks at the goal in this one and made smart choices defensively. It was a solid team effort.”

Lincoln will try to make it two-in-a-row on Friday evening when they take on Lyon College at 5:00 PM in Canton, Illinois. The match is part of an event hosted by Culver-Stockton College.
