Nicholas Castellanos hit a pair
of two-run home runs, and the host Chicago Cubs cruised to a 7-1 win
over the Milwaukee Brewers behind starting pitcher Jose Quintana on
Friday afternoon.
Castellanos hit home runs No. 21 and 22 in the first and second
innings, and Quintana helped himself with his first career extra
base hit, a run-scoring double in the Cubs' three-run second inning.
Castellanos has 11 home runs in 27 games with the Cubs, after
hitting 11 in 100 games as a Detroit Tiger before being traded.
Quintana (12-8) worked 5 2/3 scoreless innings and allowed four hits
with two walks and three strikeouts. The Cubs, who hold the second
National League wild card spot, won their fourth straight and
dropped the fading Brewers five games behind them.
Kyle Schwarber hit his team-leading 32nd home run of the season in
the bottom of the eighth inning.
Milwaukee (68-66) lost rookie second baseman Keston Hiura to a
hamstring injury. Hiura was clipped in the leg by Schwarber on a
hard slide to try to break up a double play in the third inning and
stayed in the game for a while before eventually exiting the game.
The Cubs (73-61) have won nine of their last 12 games.
Brewers starter Chase Anderson (6-4) allowed five runs on seven hits
in four innings. He's 5-5 in 14 career appearances against Chicago.

Victor Caratini picked up his 29th RBI of the season with a two-out
single in the seventh inning off Brewers reliever Devin Williams.
Caratini, Castellanos, Schwarber and David Bote had eight of the
Cubs' 11 hits.
The Brewers didn't score until there were two outs in the top of the
eighth. Manny Pina lined a single up the middle to drive in
Christian Yelich from second base. Yelich had singled and taken
second on Pedro Strop's wild pitch.
Pina went 3-for-4 on the day.
