Danny Poulos lives at 112 Palmer Avenue in Lincoln
and though his front lawn is small, he has packed it with Christmas
cheer for all to enjoy. The home is close to Woodlawn Road and
across the street from the O’Reilly Parts Store parking lot. This
allows for an unobstructed view from Woodlawn, so folks traveling
through town can enjoy a quick glimpse of the colorful lights and
characters on the lawn.
For those who go in search of lights, this location is easy to find,
and it is filled with Christmas spirit from the reindeer and sleigh
and Christmas trees to the lighted Christmas train and snowflakes.
There are also icicles dripping off the railings along the walkway
to the house and a snowman with a top hat close to the front door.
Take another look and find the Abominable Snowman and a little polar
bear wearing a Santa hat.
Poulos loves Christmas and loves decorating his home for the
holidays. He’s lived at this address for about a year and a half and
this is the second time he has decorated. This year is a little
bigger than last year, and while Poulos may be finished for this
season, who knows what he will bring to us next year.
On Wednesday evening, Lincoln Mayor Seth Goodman, Alderman Ron
Keller, City Clerk Peggy Bateman along with Teagan Wyss and
Annagrace Keller of the LLCEO made a stop at the Poulos home to
present him with some special gifts.

The home of the month sign was placed in Poulos’ yard, plus the city
presented him with a large plaque that Poulos will be able to keep
as a reminder of the recognition. Wyss and Keller presented Poulos
with a gift card in appreciation for what he is doing to make our
town a friendly happy place via his lights and decorations.
Poulos is very proud of his home, and invited his guests inside for
a quick peek. He says the house is small, but it is perfect for him.
Inside he also enjoys decorating for Christmas. His large Christmas
tree is accompanied by a lovely white reindeer. Take a peek at the
top of the tree and find a top hot. Look closer and see there is a
monkey climbing up the tree! He’s made it almost to the top as he
reaches for the brim of the top hat.
Goodman commented that the home was sold to Poulos by ME Realty. He
said that the house had been redone inside and out when Poulos
bought it. The homeowner has done some improvements since then,
working to clean up the front yard and make it nicer and he has also
built a very nice deck onto the back of the house.
For the community, this is a very good thing for many reasons. Pride
of ownership and being careful to take care of ones’ home inside and
out is one of the reasons that the city implemented the home of the
month to start with. Goodman saw it as an opportunity to share with
the public the good that is in our community and to impress upon
everyone that those who do take pride in their homes are not going
unnoticed.
Another really good point to bring out in this story is that Poulos
is a young adult who has chosen to live in Lincoln, making this his
long-term home. Retaining our youth is an important key to seeing
growth in our city. Sharing the good that our younger homeowners are
doing in their community is a positive statement for those looking
to come to Lincoln.
Additionally, seeing the youth of the LLCEO getting involved is a
positive move for the community. The LLCEO group this year has been
out and about helping with several projects that help to make an
impression on our hometown residents as well as visitors to our
community.
Also in today’s paper be sure to read the article submitted by LLCEO
board member Jennifer Keith that talks about the public
service/community projects the students have been involved with this
year.
Kuddo’s to the CEO kids and their leader Britta Langley for doing
all they can to make Lincoln a better place to live and visit.
