 The Centers for Disease Control estimates that since 2010, flu
has annually resulted in between 9-45 million illnesses, between
140,000-810,000 hospitalizations, and between 12,000-61,000 deaths.
Since it takes two weeks for the vaccine to take effect, getting one
now will help offer you protection by Christmas. Officials encourage
people to also take steps that can help protect yourself from
illness – like washing hands, covering sneezes and coughs with your
sleeve and frequently cleaning commonly touched surfaces.
All persons aged 6 months and older are recommended for annual
vaccination, with rare exception. Vaccination is particularly
important for people who are at high risk for serious flu
complications from influenza. This group includes people 65 years
and older, people of any age with certain chronic medical conditions
(such as asthma, diabetes, or heart disease), pregnant women, and
young children.

The Logan County Department of Public Health has the flu vaccine available in
both regular and high dose. The high dose is more commonly given to those 65 and
older. The LCDPH recommends talking with your doctor about which type is best
for you. The health department accepts all major insurances. You must bring your
insurance card to receive a vaccine or cash pay will be required.

Lincoln, IL. The walk-in clinic hours of operation are Monday through Friday,
7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
