O’Brien to become Lincoln Park District Executive Director

LINCOLN - Lincoln Park
District Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce that Abigail
O’Brien will become the Executive Director of the Park District on
January 1st, 2020.
Abigail is from Lincoln and has been working for
the Park District for the past three years as the Program
Coordinator. |
She received her undergraduate degree from
Illinois State University in Recreation Management and while working
full-time at the Park District, she went on to receive her master’s
degree in Recreation, Sport, and Tourism from the University of
Illinois. She is American Red Cross Lifeguard certified, CPR/First
Aid certified and a certified Pool and Spa Operator. She has begun
working toward her Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP)
certification and hopes to achieve that within the next year.
Abigail says, “I am truly looking forward to this opportunity and
continuing to help the Lincoln Park District grow. My passion for
recreation and the Lincoln community has remained constant
throughout the years. I am happy to be doing what I love and am
excited for this next step.”
Abigail is involved with many organizations in the community:
Lincoln Rotary Club, United Way of Logan County, ALMH Community
Health Collaborative, and a volunteer for Girls on the Run. She and
her husband, Jason O’Brien, reside in Lincoln and love to spend time
with their dogs. They are members of Jefferson Street Christian
Church and enjoy spending time outdoors. [to top of second

Present Executive Director, John Andrews says, “I would like to
take this opportunity to congratulate Abigail on her appointment to Executive
Director. As Program Coordinator Abby has shown leadership in organizing and
enhancing events that the park district has offered for years and creating new
programs for the park district that enables more individuals to participate and
take advantage of everything the district has to offer. I have full confidence
in Abigail’s ability and passion to lead and develop the Lincoln Park District
role in the community for years to come. Best of luck as Executive Director.”
