The ladies, who were inducted into the Vonderlieth
100 Club last year were honored with a party featuring balloons,
lovely table decorations and special birthday cookies baked and
donated to the party by well-known cookie baker Helen Ann Schmidt of
Mount Pulaski.
Doris was raised in New Holland and graduated from New Holland High
School in 1932. She graduated from Lincoln College and went back to
New Holland to teach third, fourth and fifth grades. When she
married Stan Eckert she closed the chapter on her teaching career
and became a full time stay at home wife and mother. She and Stan
raised two daughters and a son. All three of their children became
teachers. Her daughter Nancy Cochran was there for the celebration.

Catfish Dinner and ONE margarita. Her Dr. approved the one cocktail!
Helen Henrichsmeyer grew up in the
country on her parent's farm. She married and had one son and one
daughter. In 1971, she and her husband moved to Mount Pulaski where
they lived across the street from Doris' daughter Nancy Cochran
Helen attributes her longevity to having never smoked or drunk
alcohol. When asked how she attained such an astounding age she
replied that she “just lived.”
