Mount Pulaski hosted Illini
Central Friday night and the Cougars controlled the
Varsity game and came away with a 63-49 victory.
Illini Central led the game
14-6 at the end of the first quarter. By halftime the
Cougars had stretched the lead to 36-22. A 52-39 Cougar lead
was the difference at the end of three quarters.
Illini Central placed three
players in double figures enroute to the 63-49 win. Race
Damm led Illini Central with 14 points. Cole Wherley tossed
in 13 points while Blake Boehm contributed 11 points.
In the JV contest,
Mount Pulaski won a thriller on a buzzer-beater by Tanner
Pharis.
Lucas Kuhlman had tied the
game at 42-42 with 2:10 left. Illini Central took a
44-42 lead on a layup at the 1:36 mark.
After a slew of missed
opportunities by both teams to score, Mount Pulaski's Tanner
Pharis tossed up a three from the corner with 1.2 seconds on
the clock and the ball hit nothing but net and bounced onto
the court as the game-ending buzzer sounded. A thrilling
45-44 win belonged to Mount Pulaski.
