Effingham is a long way to
go for two little Central Illinois volleyball powerhouses to
play each other. But for the Mount Pulaski Honeybears and
the Hartem Stags, it's just history repeating itself.
Mount Pulaski
This year it was Mount
Pulaski getting the best of the Stags and bringing home the
championship hardware on Saturday. The Honeybears defeated
Hartem 23-25, 25-16 and 25-19 in the final match of the
day.
To earn a spot in
the championship game, the Honeybears first had to knock off
Effingham 25-18 and 25-17.
Mount Pulaski then defeated
Albion 25-6 and 25-6 in pool play.
In the finals, the
Honeybears downed West Salem 25-12 and 25-6 before taking
on their Logan County foes.
Hartem
The Stags road to
the championship match began with a 25-16 and 25-13 win over
St. Anthony.
The Stags then took out St.
Rose by scores of 25-15 and 25-18.
In the Gold Semifinal the
Stags defeated Stewardson Trinity 25-21 and 25-16.
The p.m. championship match
saw the Stags fall to Mount Pulaski 25-23, 16-25 and 19-25.
