[February 20, 2019]  LINCOLN - Lloyd Owens, of Lincoln, passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation:  1:00 p.m. Sunday February 10, 2019 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln

Service:  2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home

Obituary

Lloyd Owens, of Lincoln, passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Lloyd was born on February 20, 1924 in Johnston City, the son of Lewis and Omie Owens. He married Hazel Fern Shelby on November 21, 1945 in Johnston City. She preceded him in death on August 14, 2017.

Surviving Lloyd are his two daughters: Jean (Dennis) Carter of Lincoln and Barbara (Allen) Trago of Clinton; four grandchildren: Angela Slayton, John (Karen) Carter, Cathy (Bryan) Hickman, and Christy Trago Thayer; seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews in Southern Illinois and one sister-in-law, Pearl Russell of Norman, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, two brothers-in-law, one sister-in-law, and one grandchild: Paul David Carter.

Lloyd proudly served in the United States Army during WWII.

A celebration of life for Lloyd will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday February 10, 2019 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, with Ernie Harvey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Following the service military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post # 263.

Memorials may be made in Lloyd’s name to Safe Haven Hospice.
