Jordan Hamilton scored for Toronto in the 19th
minute, but Omar Browne's 67th-minute goal sealed advancement
for CAI.
"Disappointed for sure, but now we look forward," Toronto
captain Michael Bradley said. "We're all focused on Philadelphia
(in the MLS opener) at the weekend."
Next up for CAI will be a two-legged quarterfinal matchup
against either Sporting Kansas City or Mexico's Toluca FC. SKC
hold a 3-0 lead heading into the second leg on Thursday in
Mexico.
Elsewhere in CONCACAF Champions League action, Mauro Manotas
rescued Houston with two late goals, and the host Dynamo beat
Guatemala's Guastatoya 2-1 to advance by a 3-1 aggregate score.
A goal by Guastatoya's Aaron Navarro in the 72nd minute set up
the possibility for extra time, but Manotas put Houston back on
top in the 77th minute, and he wrapped up the result with
another goal in the 85th minute.
Next up for the Dynamo is a quarterfinal series against Tigres.
The Mexican club roared to a 5-1 home victory over Costa Rica's
Deportivo Saprissa in San Nicolas de los Garza, Mexico, to take
the series 5-2.
Enner Valencia had a hat trick for Tigres, which also got an own
goal and a tally from Eduardo Vargas. Mariano Torres found the
net for Saprissa.
