Saturday and Sunday at the Logan County Fair will be jam-packed with
great entertainment events and other activities. Among those will be
the Cake Classic Bake-off and Auction held on Sunday. This year
there will be some amazing bakers at the cake classic including
Karen Sandel, Jeanne Runyon, Carlene Carter, Dana Oltmans, Faith
Sanders, Daniel Crider, Joyce Conrady, and Darlene Crider. Look for
Jeanne Runyon to be baking a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting.
This is the recipe that won her Best Over All Cake on Friday at the
preliminary judging.
The Cake Classic Auction is a fundraiser for Logan County 4-H. To
date, the highest total amount raised at the auction has been
$3,950. So, grab those checkbooks and come on out for a chance at a
sweet treat and let's see if we can't break $4,000 and set a new
record in 2018!

Every Princess should have a little
bling! On Thursday, Junior Miss Logan County Fair Julia Collins was
sporting her pretty pink and purple flower balloon bracelet during
Kids Day at the Fair. She and a friend had matching bracelets and
were happy to show them off for the camera.

On Saturday LDN reported that the
most money ever raised at the Logan County Fair Cake Classic was
$3950. We challenged bidders to beat that and take the auction into
the $4,000 range and you responded very well. On Sunday afternoon
the total proceeds from the auction brought in a whopping $4,800!
Placing first in the Sunday afternoon judging was Darlene Crider
with her Orange Chiffon Cake. Crider's cake also earned the highest
bid at $900 and was purchased by the Culler's of Culler's Fries.
However, the cake that brought in the most money was Carlene
Carter's White Butter Cake. The cake sold twice bringing in a total
of $1,000.
