The Lady Railers won an exciting overtime game 54-52 over former Central State Eight Conference rivals Rochester Tuesday night at Roy S. Anderson Gymnasium.

Lincoln was carried by Asia Sales in the first half of the game. The freshman had 10 points in the first quarter as Lincoln stormed out to a 16-5 lead over the Rockets.

Halfway through the second quarter Sales had poured in another six points, leading Lincoln to a 24-12 lead.

The Rockets came back with a vengeance as Peyton Boudouris hit five three-pointers in the quarter to lead Rochester.

As the second quarter came to an end Lincoln was holding on to a 26-25 lead.

Leah Schneider's nine points in the third quarter allowed Lincoln to stretch the lead to 39-29.

Cadence Presswood and Madelyn Koehler also scored in the quarter for Lincoln. Following a field goal and the "and one" from Rochester's Maddie Kauffman, the two teams closed out the third quarter with Lincoln on top 39-32.

Those Rockets came roaring back early in the fourth quarter as Kelsey Tinder and Kauffman each scored field goals to narrow the gap.

With the score 39-36, Schneider made a nice spin move in the lane to stretch the lead to 41-36.

Koehler's free throws at the 4:02 mark extended that lead to 43-36.

But Rochester was not about to go away. Jordan Handlin and Tinder brought the Rockets back to within two points, 43-41 the score.

Finally the Lady Railers got a holding call on the Rochester defender and that sent Schneider to the line.

Schneider made one of the free throws at Lincoln's end but was quickly called for a foul at the other end of the court.

Kauffman went to the line and made her two free throws and so with 1:19 left in the game the score was now too close for comfort as Lincoln was holding on to a 44-43 lead.

Koehler would make a trip to the line with 1:13 on the clock and she only hit one of those baskets to barely allow for breathing room.

With 46.7 seconds left Lincoln's Emily Paulus fouled Kauffman, sending her to the line. Her two free throws were good, tying the game 45-45.

Neither team could score in the remaining seconds so this one would have to be settled in overtime.

Schneider won the tip in overtime and Koehler wasted no time popping a field goal just inside the three-point range to put Lincoln back on top, 47-45.

Rochester then missed three attempts at a basket in their possession and following a Lincoln rebound, Schneider made good on her drive to the basket at the other end. Lincoln's lead grew to 49-45.

Rochester missed a shot again at their end and it was Presswood with the rebound. However the Rockets stole the ball, missed a shot attempt again, and this time it was Schneider pulling down the rebound.
Tinder fouled Paulus with 1:27 left to play in overtime and the sophomore swished both of her free baskets to put Lincoln up 51-45.

The game literally came down to the line with Paulus, Koehler and Schneider each making free throws in the final minute of play to maintain the lead, 54-48 the score as Rochester still had a slim chance.

With 17.2 seconds left Tinder hit a field goal and the game was 54-50. Lincoln lost their possession of the ball next and then Presswood was called for a foul on Tinder with 4.7 seconds left. Tinder made both baskets and the game was 54-52 with Lincoln getting the next possession.

The Lady Railers won 54-52 in overtime versus Rochester. Leah Schneider led Lincoln with 17 points. Asia Sales tossed in 16 points.

On the inbounds pass the ball went off Schneider and that allowed Rochester to have one more chance. As the clock showed 3.3 seconds, the Rockets inbounded the ball and got it in the hands of Boudouris, who threw up an off-balanced shot that hit the side of the backboard as time expired.

Lincoln holds on to win a thriller, 54-52 over Rochester.

Lincoln head coach Taylor Rohrer was proud of her team's effort as the they picked up win no. 6 on the season. "The kids played unbelievably hard tonight," said Rohrer. "I am very proud of them. They played like a team and it showed, offensively and defensively. They worked their butts off tonight. They did a phenomenal job on offense and taking care of the basketball and finding the open man. So many times teams key on Leah and Cadence.

"Tonight Asia stepped up to the plate and really carried us in the first half.

"In the second half we were able to get the ball into our posts a little more because they had to come out and cover Asia. Emily and Maddy both stepped up and had some big points, too. It was a team effort and when you have a team effort like that, you come out on top no matter what the final score. We did that tonight, so that was exciting."

Leah Schneider led Lincoln with 17 points. Asia Sales scored 16 points for Lincoln and Madelyn Koehler hit double-digits with 10 points.

The Rockets also placed three players in double-figures. Maddie Kauffman led the way with 16 points. Peyton Boudouris had 15 points and Kelsey Tinder scored 10 points.

Lincoln's JV also won over Rochester by a final score of 40-30.

Lincoln will travel to Charleston Thursday night for an Apollo Conference match up. JV tip-off is set for 6 p.m. with the Varsity tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
