Carolyn Dickinson Steele

[January 16, 2019]  LINCOLN -  Carolyn Dickinson Steele of Lincoln passed away December 30, 2018. Cremation rites have been accorded by Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 2PM Sunday, January 13, 2019 at The Christian Village Congregate Building.

Obituary

Carolyn was born September 27, 1928 in Bureau County, IL., the daughter of Gaylen and Bertha (Holloway) Dickinson. She married Robert Gibbs Steele on January 6, 1946. He preceded her in death. Carolyn is survived by daughters Lynn (Michael) Lakin of Mt. Pulaski and Deb (Michael) Okamura of Washington; 7 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great- great-grandchild; sister Shirley Genslinger of Como and Wilma (Dave) Gaylord of Malden; and son in law John Snyder (daughter Patricia preceded her in death April 9, 2000); and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Patricia Snyder, and sisters Opal Maloy and Donna Sommer.

Carolyn was a life-long homemaker. She was an amazing seamstress and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Carolyn was a fabulous cook and loved cooking for her family. She baked many, many cookies for her grandkids and made delicious candies. She was a member of First United Methodist of Lincoln where she was very active in the women’s group. She regularly attended church services at The Christian Village.
