On Sunday January 20, 2019,
competitive gamers from across the state, Chicago, and
St. Louis will compete at the LFT beginning at 1:00
p.m. Players will square off using the widely acclaimed
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
The entrance fee for
competitors is $20. Entrance to family, friends, and other
spectators is free. Such a competitive event provides
spectators with hours of entertainment and fun. Prizes are
$300 for first place, $200 for second, and $100 for third.
Doors for registration and
practice sessions will open at 11:00 a.m. It is envisioned the
tournament will complete sometime just after 8:00 p.m., thus
allowing out of town gamers to catch the new high speed train at
9:00/9:30 p.m. back toward north/Chicago and south/St. Louis.

“We learned a lot about
timing through our December pilot event,” says Marilyn Altman,
Lincoln Family Theater Operations Manager. “Gamers generally
are ‘later in the day’ kind of folks, especially on weekends so
1:00 p.m. seems like the perfect start time for them.“

 The event will feature food
options from the theater’s normal menu as well as Sorrento’s pizza.
The December pilot had
competitive gamers ranging in age from twelve to forty-five coming
from locations including Peoria, Bloomington, Springfield, and
Chicago. “We look forward to hosting a wide age range of
competitors”, says Altman.
