The Lincoln College Women’s Basketball team could not keep up with Clarke University and suffered an 80-61 loss at home on Wednesday evening. The setback broke a four-game win streak for LC and moved the team’s record to 10-12.

The Lady Lynx played Clarke closely in the first quarter and started the second period down by just one point (21-21). However, Clarke managed to outscore Lincoln 20-10 in the second quarter to take a commanding lead into halftime. LC was unable to chip away at that lead in the second half and had to settle for the 19-point defeat.

Lincoln Sophomore forward Kaliea Monteiro (Rockford) recorded another double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Junior guard Nautica Preston (Chicago) led her team in points scored with 19. Junior Erynn Young (Indianaplois, IN) also reached double-digits in scoring with 12 points.

Lincoln Head Coach DeRonte Polite was proud of his team’s performance against a strong opponent. “"I really like the energy and effort we played with tonight,” said Polite. “We had to work for everything we got tonight, and I hope we can have this mentality as we finish out the season. I do not like losing, but I appreciate what I saw from my team tonight."

The Lady Lynx will try to start another winning streak on Saturday when they host Silver Lake College at 1:00 PM.
