Strong hitting can be enough to carry a
baseball. Offense can too, if the bats come alive. Get both, and
you get a weekend like Post 263’s senior team just had.
The team was dominant, winning three games in two days. They
kicked things off with a 4 to 1 win against Charleston on
Friday. Nate Arnold had two hits, including a double, and an RBI
and a run scored. Chad Saner, Jr. and Cam Glick combined to
allow just two hits over six innings, while striking out six.
Then in game 2 on Friday, Post 263 defeated Champaign, 12 to 0,
in six innings. Post 263 scored in each inning, highlighted by
four-run third and fifth innings. Chad Saner, Jr. doubled and
Nate Arnold tripled, while Devyn Snow had two hits and Colton
Holliday drove in two. But it was Alex Bogdanic who was the star
of the game. He just missed a no-hitter, allowing just one over
six innings while striking out four.
Post 263 completed the weekend sweep with a 9 to 1 win against
Clay County (Indiana) on Saturday. Eddie Saner tossed a complete
game, striking out five over seven innings. Nate Arnold homered
and doubled and had four RBI, Colton Holliday tripled and
doubled, and Brenden Eigenbrod and Jordan Jacobs each had two
hits.
Post 263 (9-5) will be back at home Tuesday to take on
Champaign. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. at the Lincoln Rec
Field.
