With the Americanism Essay Contest, we feel that it
gives them an opportunity to be part of an activity that enhances
the ideals of Americanism, Patriotism and Good Citizenship.
This years’ topic was “What are My Responsibilities as a U. S.
Citizen?” There were many different and interesting ideas on what
the responsibilities were ranging from respect, following the law
and the Constitution, voting, being tolerant and accepting different
race, religion and ethnic background.
Nathan Arnold placed first at the 11th and 12th grade level. Placing
second was Clint Cook and Sarah Sarasta placed third.

At the 7th and 8th grade level Kloe Frobe of West
Lincoln-Broadwell School, placed First and also place first in the District
competition. Alison Turner of WLB, placed second and Nathan Puls of Zion
Lutheran School placed third.
Each student was given a Certificate, a gift card from Abe’s Carmelcorn, a small
U. S. Flag, and a monetary award.
A “Thanks” to the students and teachers that participated in this years’
contest.
