WTA roundup: Bertens rolls into

Top-seeded Kiki Bertens of the
Netherlands cruised into the quarter-finals of the Palermo (Italy)
Ladies Open, routing Serbia's Aleksandra Krunic 6-3, 6-1 in the
second round Thursday.
In her first-round match, Bertens dropped just one game against
Georgia's Ekaterine Gorgodze. Against Krunic, Bertens came through
in the big moments, converting all three of her break points and
saving three of Krunic's four break chances.
Next up for Bertens is a matchup with Italy's Jasmine Paolini, who
pulled out a 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (4) win over Romania's Irina-Camelia Begu.
The tournament's third seed, Viktoria Kuzmova of Slovakia, also was
upset Thursday, falling 6-4, 6-4 to the Netherland's Arantxa Rus.
Rus' quarter-final foe will be Spain's Paula Badosa, who topped
Hungary's Fanny Stollar 6-1, 6-3.
Baltic Open
American Bernarda Pera advanced to her second quarter-final in as
many weeks, rallying past Kazakhstan's Elena Rybakina 4-6, 6-0, 6-2
in Jurmala, Latvia.
Pera reached the semifinals last week in Lausanne, Switzerland,
matching her best result of the year. She also got the semis at
Prague, Czech Republic, in early May.

Serbia's Nina Stojanovic earned a quarter-final matchup with Pera by
beating Argentina's Paula Ormaechea 6-0, 6-3.
Sixth-seeded Anastasia Potapova of Russia topped Latvia's Diana
Marcinkevica 6-1, 4-6, 6-2. Potapova next will face Romania's Irina
Bara, who got past Russia's Valentyna Ivakhnenko 7-6 (6), 3-6, 6-1.
