Bobetta Alzona Kolbus, 82 of Normal passed away at her residence Tuesday July 23, 2019.

She was born June 12, 1937 to Orval and Ida (Wademan) Helmick in Rural Blue Hill, NE. She married Raymond Kolbus November 26, 1955. He preceded her in death December 31, 2008.

She is survived by her son Steve Kolbus of Bloomington, daughter Stephanie (David) Opperman of Lincoln; five grandchildren Kristin Kolbus, Jenna, Samuel, and Megan Opperman, Kathryn (John) Bruntjen and sister-in-law Joyce Kolbus of Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Elaine, daughter-in-law Carolyn Kolbus, and brother Jaydee Helmick.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington. She enjoyed spending time with the Lord, her children, grandchildren, serving others and going on family vacations. She firmly believed in “Our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.” 1 Thessalonians 5:9-10 Thanks be to God. Amen.

A private family service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. There will be a church service held at Trinity Lutheran Church of Bloomington Friday July 29, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bobetta’s name to Trinity Lutheran School in Bloomington or Zion Lutheran School in Lincoln.
