The Cowboys have agreed to sign running back
Alfred Morris to a one-year contract, Pro Football Talk reported
Monday after confirming with his agency Katz Brothers Sports.
Morris, 30, returns to the Cowboys after playing the 2018 season
with the San Francisco 49ers. In 12 games (one start with the
Niners, Morris rushed for 428 yards and two touchdowns.
The seven-year NFL veteran played his first four seasons with
the Washington Redskins, where he ran for more than 1,000 yards
in each of his first three seasons. As a rookie in 2012, Morris
posted 1,613 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns -- both figures
ranking second in the league.
Morris signed a two-year contract with Dallas in March 2016 and
mostly served as a backup behind Elliott. Morris did start five
of six games that Elliott missed in 2017 after being suspended
for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.
For his career Morris has accumulated 5,931 rushing yards and 34
touchdowns in 104 games (70 starts).
