Mrs. Ruth A. Pollard, 88, of Lincoln, formerly of Galesburg, died at
2:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019 in Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital
in Lincoln.

Obituary
Mrs. Ruth A. Pollard, 88, of Lincoln,
formerly of Galesburg, died at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday,
May 21, 2019 in Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in
Lincoln.
Ruth was born August 25, 1930 in Galesburg, the
daughter of Glen and Anna (Gilruth) Barnes. She
lived most of her life in Galesburg before moving to
Lincoln to be near family.
She is survived by two sons, William Pollard of
O’Fallon, Illinois and David (and Carol) Pollard of
Summerfield, Illinois; two daughters, Pamela Pollard
of Lincoln and Peggy (and Steve) Williamson of
Heyworth, Illinois; six grandchildren, Chris (and
Stacey) Ewing, Amy (and Anthony) Bolton, Evan
Williamson, Benjamin Pollard, Andrew Pollard and
Daniel Pollard and three great grandchildren. She is
preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Terry
Hand; a son, Mark Pollard; two brothers, Herschel
Barnes and Dale Barnes and a sister, Lois Billings.
Ruth graduated from Galesburg High School in 1948.
She worked in the dietary department at Galesburg
Cottage Hospital for many years, before retiring in
1995. While in Galesburg, she attended First
Christian Church and Bethany Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 28,
2019 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and
Cremation Services Galesburg Chapel. Rev. William
Dolan will officiate.
Visitation will be held one hour
prior to the funeral service at the chapel. Burial
will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg.
