Memorial Day was the second drawing for a handmade
quilt. The drawing was held at the Atlanta Fire Barn with Roger
Dooley, of Vista Park, Illinois, the winner. Participants still have
two chances to win a quilt, with the next drawing being held, July
4th, 8:00 p.m., at the Dixie Restaurant, McLean, Illinois. The last
drawing will be held at the Atlanta Fall Festival, Atlanta Park
stage, on September 14th, 9:00 p.m.
The remaining two quilts for the raffle are on display: the July 4th
quilt is at the Dixie Restaurant and the September 14th quilt is at
the Atlanta Public Library. Tickets are still available for purchase
at the two display sites.
The Atlanta Needlework Guild and Atlanta Quilt Corner wants to thank
everyone that participates in our raffle. The proceeds go to the
Atlanta Park District as a thank you for allowing us the use of the
Memorial House basement to meet, make, and distribute our quilts,
toys, hats and scarves to: Wee Care Tree, Atlanta National Bank,
Atlanta; Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital, Emergency Room, Lincoln;
Pregnancy Resource Center, Lincoln; St. Francis Children’s Cancer
Center, Peoria; and Atlanta Food Pantry, Atlanta Christian Church,
Atlanta.
We also contribute toys, crafts, hats, scarves,
and slippers to Atlanta Methodist Church, Santa Workshop; Prayer
shawls, and bed afghans to Bloomington Hospice; with a workshop
being planned to make Fidget blankets for Abraham Lincoln Memorial
Hospital, Alzheimer Unit.
